China pays $280,000 per Pinocchio episode

Pinocchio is now a trending topic in China! Chinese video streaming site Youku Tudou just purchased the hot SBS series for $280,000 per episode. According to a press release from the show's production team, writer Park Ji Ryun’s emotional words describing the relationship between the main characters, a strong production, and superior acting attracted the country to the show.

“The responses from China and other overseas countries are heating up. We will show our appreciation to the viewers by presenting a higher quality drama," a representative from the production team stated to the media.

Pinocchio supersedes previous K-dramas that were sold to China. Former SBS productions My Lovable Girl sold for $200,000 per episode, and My Love From Another Star went for $35,000 per episode.
